MUSICIAN, PERFORMER

Having played shows at Mr. Smalls Theater, Moondogs, and James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy; performing for various music festivals such as the Under the Bridge Festival and headlining the famous Picklesburgh Festival; and even performing for audiences at the David Lawrence Convention Center, Spencer is no stranger to the Pittsburgh live music scene. In addition to these already notable venues, Spencer recently went on tour with the soul group Super Midnight playing in Nashville at the Hard Rock, in Memphis at B.B. Kings Blues Club, and performing for the International Blues Competition on Beale St. at Rum Boogey Blues Hall.

Spencer has had the good fortune of performing with and being mentored by many world-famous jazz artists in his formative years. The first was the late Richie Cole, one of his biggest supporters when Spencer first hit the scene, even going as far as personally writing him a letter of recommendation. Spencer has also sat in with Roger Humphreys and the RH factor numerous times at the legendary James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy. There is no shortage of names Spencer has played with as far as pop musicians go either. Spencer has performed for the past several years with Bruce Springsteen's saxophonist Eddie Manion, the pop saxophonist Grace Kelly, and Grover Washington's keys player Jeff Levine.

Currently, Spencer performs tenor saxophone with the neo-soul band Nourish My Soul, the fusion group Fusion Illusion, the wedding band Dr. Zoot, and the Center of Life Pro Band. He also plays alto saxophone with the hip hop artist Isaiah Small and the jazz swing band the Pitt Vipers, and performs on both tenor and EWI synthesizer with the post-EDM jazz artist Manu Gajanan. He currently subs on tenor for the Balcony Little Big Band and Sierra Sellers. As far as studio appearances are concerned, Spencer is credited as horn & string arranger and tenor and baritone saxophone player on the rock band Steel Mill Rising's self-titled album. Spencer also played tenor on the track "Fallen Castles" from indie band Manhattan's album Think Twice, and throughout Chris Pinto's debut album A Cup of Tea. A frequent collaborator with Isaiah Small, Spencer played alto and tenor saxophone on Isaiah's single "Hasta Luego" and is featured on one of Isaiah's most popular songs, "Crazy 'Bout You," along with rising pop star Mia Gladstone.
